WHAT AGE GROUPS DOES MERRIMAC FOOTBALL CLUB CATER FOR?

Merrimac Football Club proudly accommodates both boys and girls aged 5 to 14 years old, offering participation opportunities in the Gold Coast Football 'MiniRoos' and 'Junior' Competitions.

Our club welcomes young athletes of all skill levels, providing a supportive environment for growth and development in the sport. At Merrimac FC, we offer two distinct pathways for players: Community Teams and Development Teams.

Whether your child is just starting out in football or is looking to enhance their skills in a more competitive setting, we have programs tailored to meet their needs. Join us at Merrimac Football Club and embark on an exciting journey of learning, teamwork, and fun on the pitch!

WHEN IS TRAINING?

For our Community Teams, training sessions are scheduled twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays, commencing promptly at 4.00pm and  Development Teams conduct training sessions three times a week, held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

It's imperative for all players to arrive in their full Merrimac FC kits and be ready on the pitch to commence training at 4.00pm sharp. This punctuality ensures that our training sessions run efficiently and effectively, maximising our players' development and enjoyment of the sport.

WHAT IS THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM?

Merrimac Football Club Development Team is tailored for players who are deeply committed to their long-term football advancement. This program demands a high level of discipline throughout multiple sessions, offering a rigorously structured team environment that isn't suited for the faint-hearted. With a focus on attitude, technique, and game mechanics, players are consistently challenged to reach their full potential.

Participation requires full attendance at all training sessions and games, along with adherence to the Club's uniform regulations at all times. Our Development Team aims to push players beyond their limits, fostering a culture of growth and excellence on and off the field.

IS MY CHILD COVERED BY INSURANCE?

Yes the Club, through Football Queensland, has insurance included in your child's registration fee which you pay at sign-on. This insurance is effective immediately when you register your child.

WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF ON OR OFF-FIELD INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR?

At Merrimac Football Club, it is imperative that all players, team officials, and spectators strictly adhere to our Codes of Conduct, Rules, Regulations, Conditions, and Decisions.

We kindly request everyone to take the time to thoroughly review our Code of Conduct. As part of our commitment to fostering a positive and respectful environment, Merrimac Football Club maintains a Zero Tolerance Policy towards inappropriate behavior by players, officials, and spectators. This policy is particularly stringent concerning any negative behavior directed towards referees.

We firmly believe in upholding the values of sportsmanship, respect, and fair play both on and off the field, and we appreciate the cooperation of everyone involved in ensuring a positive experience for all.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO BUY?

At Merrimac Football Club, we take pride in providing each player with their personalised Nike kit, comprising a jersey, shorts, and socks.

While the club supplies these essential items, players are responsible for acquiring their own football boots and shin pads. It is mandatory for players to wear their designated Merrimac Football Club attire and have their boots and shin pads with them at all games and training sessions. This ensures not only a sense of unity among team members but also prioritises player safety on the field.

We appreciate players' adherence to these guidelines, fostering a professional and cohesive environment within our club.

WHAT IS MINI ROOS?

MiniRoos is a smaller version of football tailored to provide boys and girls with an exciting introduction to the sport. Geared towards children aged 5 to 11, MiniRoos emphasises fun, friendship, and skill development. It offers a scaled-down format of the game, allowing young players to enjoy football in a relaxed and supportive environment. With an emphasis on fostering a love for the game, MiniRoos encourages kids to have fun, play with friends, and learn new skills as they embark on their football journey.

AT WHAT TIMES WILL MY CHILD PLAY?

All fixture games take place on Saturdays. Typically, younger age groups commence their matches from as early as 8:30am, while older age groups have varying kickoff times depending on their draw.

Occasionally, there may be Sunday or mid-week games scheduled, contingent upon the draw from Football Queensland.

WILL MY CHILD GET INJURED?

As a physical sport, there is always a possibility of minor injuries in football. However, at Merrimac Football Club, we prioritise player safety, especially at the Junior level.

Rules are carefully modified to minimise risks and ensure the safest possible environment for all players. While we cannot guarantee that your child won't experience any physical injuries, rest assured that our coaches and staff are dedicated to implementing measures to reduce such occurrences and promote the well-being of every player on the field.

Our commitment to safety is paramount, and we strive to create a positive and secure atmosphere where children can enjoy the game with confidence.
